Since 2010, Dr. Elke Keup-Thiel works at the Climate Service Center Germany now in the department transfer and capacity building.

After studying meteorology at the University of Hamburg, she completed a PhD at the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology, modeling the microphysics of aerosol particles in global climate models. Afterwards she worked in several national and European projects on the hydrological cycle of cyclones, the impact of climate change on the Barents Sea region and in the project ‘Service Group Adaptation’ for the first time at the bridge between climate science and society.

Since 2016, she is working in different committees of DIN e.V., since 2021 in the new established standard committee ‘Climate Change’ to introduce state of the art knowledge about climate change in standardization. Her current work focusses on knowledge transfer, and quality and evaluation of transdisciplinary processes (Project NorQuATrans)
In addition she guides the project KliWiSt in which the influence of climate change on wind energy site assessment will be investigated.
