Dr. Thomas Frisius is a research associate at the Climate Service Center Germany and works on the development of the non-hydrostatic regional climate model REMO-NH within the project EUCP. The aim is the implementation of a turbulence scheme that enables cloud-resolving climate simulations with an improved representation of extreme weather events.

Dr. Thomas Frisius studied meteorology at the University Hamburg and investigated baroclinic waves in his subsequent doctorate. Afterwards he took up a position at the Goethe-Unversity Frankfurt am Main and habilitated with a topic related to tropical cyclone dynamics. From 2009 to 2014, He was the head of the research group Dynamial Systems at the Univerity Hamburg within the Cluster of Excellence CliSAP. His research interests include tropical cyclones, baroclinic waves, ocean circulation, atmospheric modelling and dynamical systems. Besides his research he lectures the course "Conceptual models of complex systems" at the University Hamburg.
