Completed a BSc in Biology at the University of A Coruña, Spain. Continued to study to obtain an MSc in Marine Biodiversity and Conservation, completing the programme at both Ghent University in Belgium and the Pierre and Marie Curie University in France. Completed a PhD on the project "Monitoring of Mediterranean Marine Protected Areas" at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the Hellenic Center for Marine Research, Greece, as part of the prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Programme.

After took up two post-doctoral positions, both focusing on the human dimension of coastal areas. Firstly, at the University College Dublin focused on the valuation of coastal cultural ecosystem services in the Irish Sea. Then, at the International Marine Centre in Italy, worked on multidisciplinary research to explore the complex links between the coastal environment and human well-being on the island of Sardinia.

Currently at GERICS, works to help coastal communities adapt to Climate Change. In particular, he is interested in integrating climate services into beach management and coastal governance, and in promoting bottom-up processes to adapt and mitigate the impacts of climate change on coastal regions.
