Janna Gehrke joined the GERICS team in Oktober 2021. With her work she supports the activities around the toolkits for decision makers in cities and companies. These toolkits aim to stimulate the development and implementation of adaptation options to the impacts of climate change.

Since October 2023 Janna works in the Project ExtrA, which deals with the social acceptance of heat supply options on household level and the role that extreme events play in it. The project receives funding from the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action within the funding area “Energy Transition and Society”.

Janna has a Master´s Degree in Urban and Regional Development at Kiel University (Christian-Albrechts-Universität). She worked as a climate change manager for the Regionalverband Großraum Braunschweig. In a cooperative process with various stakeholders she developed a concept for the region to reduce greenhouse gases. Additionally, she completed a further education as a climate adaptation manager at Leuphana University Lüneburg.

Recently Janna worked in a project in the Ministry of Environment and Energy in Hamburg. It aimed to show examples of a land use contributing not only to reduce greenhouse gases but also to adapt to the impacts of climate change. The focus lay on combinations for the production and storage of renewable energies combined with adaptation measures.
