Silvia Kodeih has been working as a research associate at GERICS in the project CARBOSTORE (Carbon Storage in German Coastal Seas - Stability, Vulnerability and Perspectives for Manageability) since September 2021. The main objective of CARBOSTORE is to investigate the stability and vulnerability of different carbon reservoirs in the German North Sea and Baltic Sea. The main focus of Silvia's work in the project is the cooperation with stakeholders from administration, politics, and associations with the aim to develop a visual information product. The purpose is to help decision makers better understand and assess the impacts of specific developments and management decisions on marine carbon stores.

Previously, Silvia was employed at the North German Coastal and Climate Office of the Helmholtz Center hereon in Geesthacht and investigated the climate information needs of stakeholders from various coastal sectors in the ECLISEA project.

The social scientist from Leipzig has worked at various scientific institutions in recent years, with her work always focusing on the interface between the social and natural sciences and touching on the topics of ocean, coast, climate change and society. For example, as a research assistant of the German Advisory Council on Global Change (WBGU), she was involved in the preparation of an ocean report, and she also worked at the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research (AWI) on issues related to coastal zone management.
